March Madness
I love designing homes. But I really love designing wardrobes.
Each time a new season rolls around and the weather starts to change I deeply feel how much I miss having stores. Well not really the day to day operations and dealing with crazy NYC landlords and glitchy inventory software systems. But I miss our BFF UPS driver rolling in stacks of boxes taller than he was, unpacking all the new clothes that we’d been dreaming of all winter and I especially miss the customers. Helping people find joy, possibility, confidence and self-expression in beautiful clothing is one of my greatest pleasures, and talents! I miss the detective work of meeting new designers and finding new collections and creating the perfect edit of clothes for any given occasion. Professionally, I have been working non-stop since I moved into interior design, but the question I still get asked most is: where should I shop for this? What should I wear to this? What’s your favorite……..insert scarf, t-shirt, swimsuit, cardigan, beanie, leopard print coat?

So I am going to dip my toes into editing my favorite looks and brands into monthly drops you can find here. A sneak peak into my ever-evolving dream closet, basically what Bird was for 20 years. I am starting with a small collection called March Madness, inspired by the college basketball tournament where you literally don’t know how it’s going to end until the final seconds before the buzzer. Basically how I feel every day in Sweden in the spring. It can be bright and sunny and 65 degrees one day, and 40 and raining the next and sometimes both in the same day. In some places they call it mud season, and you need to dress accordingly. Layers, cozy sweaters, great denim, scarves, cute socks with slides and sandals, but more likely with sneakers or boots. And of course all of it topped with a light weight, functional, spring coat. These aren’t going to be exhaustive, everything on the internet collections. I always thought it was ridiculous for stores and brands to expect you to sort through, or scroll through hundreds or even thousands of items, when really twenty should do the trick if they have been well edited. I hope you find somethings you love and can use and want to wear every day. I want to capture the feeling of being a kid and walking out of the store wearing your favorite, brand new shoes. I will likely throw in some home collections: small lamps, handmade rugs, my favorite books and the shelves to put them on, useful things for daily joy. Happy spring! Happy shopping!

That’s it for today. Thanks for reading, I am glad you are here.
Onwards!
Jen

This is exactly what I miss without stores like Bird or Creatures of Comfort around anymore! The absolute faith I would find exactly what I needed in the tight curation of select pieces.
LOVE the cropped Toteme kick flare! I'm always looking for non-tight white jeans! Any advice on sizing / how to measure?! Thank you!
